Alexa Schmidt is a freelance editor, publishing expert, and communication analyst working with select authors and clients, including Robert Conlin, Dan Lawton, and Autumn Green, and independent publishers, including Wild Blue Press, Unencumbered Press, and Beaufort Books.
Previously, she was Senior Editor of Beaufort Books and a staff member of Ooligan Press at Portland State University in both editorial and marketing, and has published two research reports on the book industry, including an in-depth analysis of the cross-national cross-media adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s series The Witcher. As a graduate from Portland State University with her Master’s degree in Book Publishing and from the University of Denver’s Publishing Institute, she’s an expert in the publishing process and book trends, supporting publishers and authors to make a good book, a great one.
When Alexa isn’t editing, she spends time trying to catch up on her TBR stack, walking in the hills of Oregon, baking copious amounts of chocolate chip cookies, or traveling to ski, hike, or catch a concert and find the best restaurant in Portland.
Alexa will be offering private editorial sessions for your first 25 – 50 pages (turned in 2 weeks prior to our Fall Writers Retreat) for our attendees.
